Meditation Series
Part of a diptych making up the second piece in the Meditations series, creating meditative mandala imagery conflated with a QR code. Only by scanning the drawing and being directed into cyberspace can the meditation be completed. The QR code in Mediation 1.2.1 takes the viewer to an image of Meditation 1.2.2 digitally erased, while 1.2.2 sends the viewer to an erased image of 1.2.1. The imagery in each image deconstructs a conventional cosmological mandala format, de-centering it and overlaying it with multiple other identical forms to confound the notion of a singular, privileged, centered enlightened space. Furthermore, each half of the diptych is created using inverse methods of the other; 1.2.1 using positive transfer and drawing, 1.2.2 using negative transfer and erasure.
