Triptych
Latex Paint and Projection Installation
56" x 68"
2013

My installation for my master's thesis exhibition and another projection negation installation, Triptych blends digitally projected color with painted color. As is the case with my other projection negation projects, the viewer activates the piece by obstructing the projector, causing their shadow to reveal the painting concealed underneath the projected colors. The balance of the projection and the paint shifts throughout the day due to ambient light from exterior windows, creating an endlessly variable viewing experience that culminates in one "privileged" viewing moment under the right conditions, in which the piece grays out entirely and it can barely be viewed at all. Centering around themes of paradoxical revelation, the imagery is derived from deconstructed religious triptychs and stained glass imagery. Installation shots at Magnan Metz Gallery.
